Artist:  Heather Tolleson
Location:  GSD&M, 828 West 6th Street
Austin, TX 78703
Date:  March 11th thru June 9th, 2012
Spiral Plexus, created by AOTW's Artistic Director Heather Tolleson, was a striking installation intended to bring wonder and surprise to the young and young-at-heart.  The project utilized 2,000 acrylic windspinners and 9,200 hooks, springs and swivels on 320 feet of steel armature, creating an intricate, swirling tapestry of color and movement that sparkled with the wind, reflecting the Texas sunlight off the multicolored metallic windspinners.  Standing 12 feet tall, 9 feet wide, and 15 feet long, this eye-catching kinetic sculpture mesmerized passersby-- a joyful statement of pure visual delight.
